Making a Statement With Your Water Fountain

In my first article on the water fountain oasis, I was directing my attention to the use and benefits of water fountains in our homes. The physical and mental attributes of water fountains is what I enjoy and that’s what it’s all about, right?

So I questioned the designer of the fountain in the lobby of our new education building. The answer I got was not what I expected. He said the design was a statement of the purpose of the building. The building is used to train people for ministry to the world. The steal webbed globe of the earth with the continents in place and standing in a fountain and the etched wheat on its stone represents the flow of students into the harvest field of the world.

Four areas of fountains in purpose and statement came to mind.
- Fountains as a statement of purpose or mission.
- Fountains in public squares.
- Fountains used for entertainment.
- Fountains designed as a statement of elegance and pride in our homes.

Imagine waking into the lobby of a bank building and seeing a tall granite and stainless steel fountain. Your attention is drawn to the fountain, behind the thin wall of water and etched on the stainless steel is a picture of two men shaking hands and the company mission statement, Strait deals, honest policy and no excuses. The granite and stainless steel stating we are durable, strong and prestigious. This stunning fountain offers visual excitement and sets a pleasant mood to visitors and members alike. Many buildings and offices use their logos and materials in conjunction with water fountains make a statement and create a mood.





We find water fountains in public squares around the world. Some of these fountains
are designed to mark an historical event others to honor gods and nature. Many wealthy people have commissioned fountains in city squares. They have hired well known sculptures and artist to come up with a beautiful monument. These commissioned fountains may have a placard in recognition of the benefactor but the designer is often better known. Some of these fountains were designed for eye appeal and as a casual meeting place. Some cities built fountains for cooling off on hot summer days, incorporating beauty and refreshment.

I am sure you have seen the great fountains in Las Vegas and other entertainment centers around the world. These fountains are animated with lighting and water pumps. Some of these fountains may are choreographed with sound synchronized with the water and others with light or both. Computers control the light and sound. With 17,000 gallons in the air at one time, 1700 water jets, 250 moving jets, 6,200 lights, and sound. These fountains are a bit much for your average garden water fountain.

Many of the above fountains can be incorporated in your home with the features listed above.
Indoor Fountains and garden fountains for your home are reasonable and can function as a statement of elegance, a family gathering place for cooling off, entertaining guests, and relaxing in your own personal retreat. Many companies will put a logo or family crest on your water fountain. Other companies have small multiport water pumps and lighting that come with their fountains or may be added to your fountain as a visual conversational treat for your guests. You may have fountains designed for your home interior and exterior to welcome guests with a statement of your success with a family crest. Many indoor water fountains are designed to create a sense of peace and tranquility but there are others that are utilitarian such as small cocktail table or coffee tables. Whatever your statement or purpose enjoy your fountain with family or friends.
