Picking the Right Pot

Have you ever put a picture in a new frame, and been surprised at how much better the picture looks? You would be equally surprised to see how having a good pot for your plant makes a big difference. You will want to base your pot decisions on the appearance of your greenery, considering things such as color, style, and shape. The bonsai plant is a great illustration of this: because of its appearance and origin, you will want an Oriental pot with a clay or stone material. With a different plant such as the bamboo, you will want a different look for your pot (try a metal pot with chic designs). Before you come to a decision, look at several different styles, colors, and materials to make sure you get the best fit. The size of the pot is an area where taste can overrule practicality. A gigantic pot often steals the show-which may be exactly what you want-while smaller pots give all the limelight to the greenery.

The Importance of Recording Decorating Ideas

Those who love interior design are always ready to try something new. Most of us, unfortunately, do not always have the time to try something the moment an idea strikes us. That does not mean, though, that you cannot do a thing to prepare for those endeavors. A great thing to do is to keep a journal of ideas for décor. This way, you can keep track of all your thoughts when you do not have time to immediately work on them. Also, jot down any information you need to obtain or problems that need to be fixed. Sometimes, you may find that between the time you write your ideas down and the time you begin to implement them, your mind has been working on strategies in the background.

Steps to Building a Wreath

A lovely wreath on your door will tell visitors to your home something about you before they even step inside. They can be made in a variety of ways, shapes and styles. You just need a foam ring and some silk flowers to get started. Using some heavy-duty scissors, cut the stems of your flowers, leaving about an inch of stem below the flower. Next, decide how you want the flowers to be arranged, and add them individually to the ring by pushing the stems into the foam. As you are positioning the flowers, make sure that the foam is thoroughly covered; however, you do not want your flowers to look too crowded! Your wreath will last a very long time if you use a hot glue gun to add small amounts of glue where the base of the flower touches the ring. Vines or other standard greenery can be used to add a festive flare. You can choose to create wreaths using one kind of flower in many colors, or one color using many flowers-or a combination. Once the wreath is completed, hammer in a small nail to the top of the door and string up the wreath.

Decorating with Topiaries

The topiary field is an example of horticultural artwork: topiary plants are trimmed and shaped into specialized figures and designs. Some plants that work well for creating topiary designs are hedges (a more western choice) and bonsai tries (commonly used in the east). There is almost no end to what can be created: people and animals, geometric shapes, and detailed landscapes and mazes are all common choices. Though real topiaries are often enormous in scale, there are many, many designs available with smaller silk plants. You have probably seen silk topiaries before in the workplace or in churches and other public buildings. The most common design for the silk topiary is the spiral. This is due to the small offices and spaces that these topiaries are required to fill.

Silk Garden Online.com offers a great selection of silk flowers. Including flower arrangements, silk roses, tulips, orchids, and more.
