Color Coordination For Silk Flower Arrangements and More!
When designing with fake or real flowers, it is important to coordinate color. If you stop by a flower shop and study how colors are synchronized in your favorite floral designs, you will gain some ideas of how you want your own floral arrangements to look. You can also do this activity using online websites with photographs of floral designs. Floral arrangements can be put together using one of two strategies. The more natural style uses flowers from matching areas or times of year. These types of arrangements almost look like you have taken a natural garden or field and placed them in your home. A different style focuses on the color or the shape of the flowers used. This style is commonly found at events, like weddings, and other celebrations. A tip when arranging these flowers is to arrange within the same color but use different hues of that color.
To Buy or to Rearrange? That is the Question
Every time I find myself in a craft store poring over the new selections, I begin again to think that if only I had this item or that decorative craft, then my house would look perfect. Unfortunately, this is not great for my wallet or my house! In all reality, that new exciting purchase may be the first thing I add to my next garage sale list. Instead of the constant looking and searching for new items, I have found that rearranging what I already have is a great solution for home décor. It doesn’t take a lot of effort, but I feel like I have a brand new look. Not does this expand my talents, but it helps to keep my wallet fat!
Two Easy Ways to Preserve Your Flowers
Special events such as weddings, graduations, church ceremonies, dances, and even special birthdays are days you will always want to remember-and a great way to preserve that memory is by drying the flowers used on that day. Because flowers wilt within 2 to 3 weeks (and sometimes closer to 2 to 3 days), you will need to dry them once they are done being displayed. There are two very simple and basic ways to dry flowers. The more basic method is to dry your flowers by hanging them upside down. You will need to dry them in a place with little moisture and light to get the maximum beauty preserved within your flowers. These flowers will be very delicate when ready, so you may want to display them in a glass box (shadowboxes also work well). The second technique for drying flowers is to press them. Since this process does not work very well with bigger or rounder flowers, consider pressing the flowers petals rather than the whole flower; with small, delicate flowers, pressing yields very pretty results.
Decorating with Bamboo Plants
Few plants are as high in demand as the bamboo. A few of the reasons why they are so highly sought after are their intricate designs, stability, and endurance. They are great for the home and the workplace because they do not require a lot of watering. There is actually a myth that the bamboo plant does not die unless someone has been unfaithful to the owner of the plant. The many shapes and varieties of bamboo have led them to be included in many floral arrangements. Make sure you place your bamboo plant in an area with adequate room: you will want guests to see its elegant trunk, and you may need to leave room for the bamboo to get taller. Often, the leaves of the bamboo plants are quite broad, so be sure to dust them if you choose an artificial one. You will not regret your decision to decorate with bamboo!
